How long back are we going for them to be considered "classic"? Movies have been around for awhile, after all.

anywhere from twenty-five years ago to as far back to the birth of cinema is fine by me!
i want to know peoples opinions and preferences and what they think the true "golden age of cinema" is.
also favorite movies.
because everyone has a favorite old nostalgia film.

In that case, The Lord of the Rings is probably my favorite, right there with The Princess Bride. Original Star Wars, Narnia, Blast From The Past, Beauty and the Beast...lots of good movies!

and props on star wars.
it's a bit mainstream but you can't put down one of the fathers of modern science fiction.
it also takes place during my personal favorite cinematic movement.

Well them's the ones that pop up in my head first at least.

[She lists a few more good ones from the time between then and now. Mostly fantasy and sci-fi but there's some wuxia and martial arts stuff too. Also some weird indie blacksmith action comedy too that isn't too well known.]

Actually, not very. I enjoy the aesthetic, and the tension, but most horror tips a bit too far into gore for my enjoyment.

For classics, "The Irony of Fate" does hold a special place! And "Frozen V," too, which I think is the moment when Disney truly mastered VR animation.

and here i always thought "shrek 5: shrekPUNzelle" was the true breakthrough into vr.
but i know it's pretty hard to find these days.
especially since the disney monopolization de facto of the 50's.
but beleive it or not there was once a point when they had competitive animation companies!
i know there's a whole lot or hear-say about that time though since that was around the when the corporate ideologies of new gate city began to take effect and form into the country we know today.
but hey, that's what makes film history so cool!

Well, that's a very interesting point, and I'm afraid I simply can't confirm one way or the other, because (I know it's a shocking admission!)

I've never seen Shrek 5.

But I have to say that the era of the competing companies put out some true masterpieces. Some terrible crap too, of course, but one can find that in the oeuvre of any age.

apparently there's rumor of a movie so bad around 2032 that the company that made it literally burned and deleted every last remnant of its existence.
or at least that's what the forums say.
the legend of 'Marvels Starfox'.

apparently they tried so hard to justify a character who's powers were way too explicit to put in mass theaters.
it was their second attempt at targeting a more adult audience for the marvel brand after the success of the cinematic classic of deadpool.

what old people said they've seen it over the last decade said it scarred their childhood.

Every time someone tries to GUESS my favorite old movies, I get either an endless barrage of Snow White jokes or an endless barrage of Frozen jokes.
Although, at least the first one was a landmark film-making achievement that somehow DIDN'T get a billion asinine sequels and remakes.
To actually answer your question, though, Mean Girls.

i mean, that bus scene at the end was probably one of the best spontaneous plot twists in cinematic history.
that and 'lebanese' is the best run-on joke ever.

why does everyone think your favorites frozen or snow white?

Well, the Frozen joke is my meta power, although I've yet to learn any of the things she can do in the sequels.
The Snow White joke is on my parents, though. Weiss Schnee? Reverse it and and pretend that it's pronounced anything like actual German.

why was that one your favorite of the lot?

I kinda feel that one was enough for me?
the setting was pretty bleak. a bit Too Real
didn't really feel like I was missing anything out by skipping them

oh man, i mean, granted fury road has way more badass ladies who can rip you a new one, and sure enough, it's probably the most prestigious of the lot, but the entire rest of the series is still classically amazing!
i mean, it's one of the largest staplestones to causing the birth of mainstream post-apocalyptic sci-fi!
thunderdome was the lowest rated out of all the films and that still got a solid B by almost all critics.

oh man, maybe i should just stream all of them sometime.
do a marathon or something.
