tell me, when you think of classical movies what is the first thing that comes to your mind?
asking for research purposes of course.

that was the mad max movie that was remade, like, over twenty years after the original series, right?
why was that one your favorite of the lot?

oh I never looked up the others
I kinda feel that one was enough for me?
the setting was pretty bleak. a bit Too Real
didn't really feel like I was missing anything out by skipping them

but I think my answer's gonna be pretty obvious anyways

oh man, i mean, granted fury road has way more badass ladies who can rip you a new one, and sure enough, it's probably the most prestigious of the lot, but the entire rest of the series is still classically amazing!
i mean, it's one of the largest staplestones to causing the birth of mainstream post-apocalyptic sci-fi!
thunderdome was the lowest rated out of all the films and that still got a solid B by almost all critics.

oh man, maybe i should just stream all of them sometime.
do a marathon or something.

she's a badass and i wouldn't doubt that everyone who saw the movie when it came out all mutually had a huge burning crush on her.

but I'm not sure I can take having my singular illusion of her career expanded like that
they would have to be some pretty amazing roles

i see, so you're more one of those people who gets a crush over the character of the film rather than the particular actor or actress.
that's cool i guess.

i mean, i have a classics era actress that i def think is the perfect woman, but i would lie if i said it wasn't initially started because of a particular role she played in a certain movie.

i mean, that's what makes fictional things like movies and books and games so interesting i think.
these big cool worlds and these deeply written characters that just feel so amazing.
it's one of the reasons i love film as much as i do.

uhh well I'm big into retellings of fairy tales
ones where they change up the formula
or just switch characters roles around

I like this one where someone takes little red riding hood
but the dude chopping firewood is the one in trouble
and she's the hunter that totally gets the jump on the big bad wolf

i remember reading one where she was the one who was the bad guy.
and that the red of her hood was due to the blood of those she killed.

was the huntsman still all big and burley in the book you read?
you know, despite being the damsel-in-distress?
i feel like people tend to turn characters like that all waifish and frail the moment they're given the victim role.

idk I guess unless there's some lesson to come out of it
making the main character all grimdark for the sake of it just feels shallow
like in comics where they have a run where they make one of the main characters a bad guy

oh yeah, but almost everything these days tries too hard of the edgy factor.
i think people just like to project themselves into familiar situations while making it seem slightly more badass.
and there seems to be a pretty strong market for it too, just look at all the grimdark edgy au fanfictions that exist out there!

but i get what you're saying.
for me, i'm not a big fan of anything unless it knows how to throw some good lighthearted comedy in.
there's something fun about something that provides a dichotomy of edgy and dark with silly and fun!

popular doesn't always mean good but you're right about that
people can write what they want and like what they like

inserting levity is huge though
finding the right timing for it and the right balance without just
like breaking the whole flow
nothing sucks worse than having a REALLY bad joke that cuts in at the wrong time

now i wouldn't say that.
i mean, the phrase "it's so bad it's good" exists with a reason.
think of battlefeild earth or snakes on a plane.
or the oh-so infamous epic cult classing the room.

heck, even the recent manic jack was hilarious even though it was supposed to be a thriller flick.

but i'm going on a tangent and making a huge nerd of myself in the process.
i think it's just because my personal favorite subject is campy horror/action movies.

well I mean
you did literally ask for this
so there's no problem

just like there's no problem with liking bad movies or stories
but there's a big difference to me in things that are campy and just
unenjoyable

it's kinda hard to put into words since it's all subjective

oh, it's one hundred percent subjectable.
but come on, you can't say there's not at least one film out there that is technically horrible but you can't help but love in an ironic sort of way.
